Without enough magnesium, this conversion can be hindered, leading to lower levels of active thyroid hormone in the body, which can slow down metabolism, cause fatigue, and lead to other hypothyroid symptoms.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/articles\/PMC6028657\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">study<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> published in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Science Reports <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in 2018 found a strong correlation between low serum magnesium levels and autoimmune thyroiditis, specifically <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thyforlife.com\/hashimotos-thyroiditis-vs-graves-disease-a-comparison-of-the-two-main-autoimmune-thyroid-disorders\/#:~:text=What%20is%20Hashimoto%E2%80%99s%20Thyroiditis%3F\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hashimoto\u2019s thyroiditis<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The researchers observed that participants with lower magnesium levels tended to test positive for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thyforlife.com\/hashimotos-thyroiditis-vs-graves-disease-a-comparison-of-the-two-main-autoimmune-thyroid-disorders\/#:~:text=T4%20and%20T3.-,Thyroglobulin%20Antibodies%20(TgAb),-%3A%20These%20antibodies\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">anti-thyroglobulin antibodies (TgAb)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, develop Hashimoto\u2019s, and experience hypothyroidism. These findings suggest that maintaining adequate magnesium levels may be important for thyroid health and could potentially help reduce the risk of autoimmune thyroid disorders.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Additionally, magnesium has been observed to play a role in regulating the levels of TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) in the blood. This hormone, released from the pituitary gland at the base of the bran, signals the thyroid to produce more hormones. When magnesium levels are insufficient, the regulation of TSH can be disrupted, further contributing to thyroid dysfunction. Published in the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BBA Clinical<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> journal in 2015 is a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/articles\/PMC4661500\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">study<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that focused on acquired magnesium deficiency in participants with thyroid disease. One interesting finding from this study is normalization of TSH levels after magnesium supplementation.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Magnesium sufficiency is also associated with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mdpi.com\/2076-3921\/12\/2\/283#:~:text=Interestingly%2C%20serum%20Mg%20levels%20have,and%20oxidative%20stress%20%5B21%5D.\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">reduction in <\/span><b>inflammation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>oxidative stress<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, two factors that can negatively impact thyroid health.
