These results from the various studies on this topic are, however, not necessarily contradictory per se. They merely reveal the nuances involved in whether or to what extent the plant is effective in improving a specific kind of thyroid condition.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For instance, while some studies have found no significant changes in thyroid hormone levels following ashwagandha supplementation (particularly in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.merriam-webster.com\/dictionary\/euthyroid\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">euthyroid<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> individuals), others have shown increases in thyroid hormone levels, particularly in individuals with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thyforlife.com\/subclinical-thyroid-disease\/#:~:text=and%20management%20strategies.-,Subclinical%20hypothyroidism,-What%20is%20subclinical\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">subclinical hypothyroidism<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/28829155\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">study<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> published in 2018 in the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> investigated the effects of ashwagandha on subclinical hypothyroidism. The study involved 50 participants with elevated TSH levels but normal T4 and T3 levels. These participants were given 600 mg of Ashwagandha root extract or starch (as a placebo) daily for eight weeks. The results showed a normalization in TSH levels in the treatment group, which was not the case in the placebo group.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As mentioned earlier in this article, the ashwagandha plant contains several compounds responsible for its wide range of medicinal properties. But, how exactly do they work in the body to promote thyroid function? There is enough scientific evidence showing that ashwagandha can indeed <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/38003702\/#:~:text=The%20results%20of%20the%20research,functioning%20of%20the%20reproductive%20system.\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">stimulate the endocrine system<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. As far as the thyroid is concerned, not only is ashwagandha capable of improving hormone release from the thyroid gland, it can also <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/health.clevelandclinic.org\/what-is-ashwagandha#:~:text=%E2%80%9CAshwagandha%20can%20augment%20thyroid%20function%20by%20increasing%20the%20conversion%20of%20the%20less%20potent%20thyroid%20hormone%2C%20T4%2C%20to%20the%20more%20active%20form%20of%20the%20thyroid%20hormone%2C%20T3%2C%E2%80%9D%20says%20Dr.%20Lin.%20%E2%80%9CThus%20for%20some%20people%2C%20it%20can%20support%20a%20healthier%20thyroid%20function.\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">enhance<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/books\/NBK285545\/#:~:text=Normally%2C%20about%20one%2Dthird%20of,metabolite%203%2C3'T2.\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">conversion of inactive T4 to the more active T3<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
