Slower metabolism translates to fewer calories getting burned. These calories get stored as fat, making it more difficult for hypothyroid people to lose weight than people with normal-functioning thyroid glands.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Even among people living with hypothyroidism, rates of energy metabolism vary from person to person.
